Since it was a garden theme, I thought serving muffins in terra cotta pots would be so cute.

I found a yogurt a while back that was served in terra cotta pots and I had saved some of them, so that’s what I used.

But, you could easily purchase small terra cotta pots at Home Depot, Lowe’s or a garden supply to use, as well.

As you can see, I not only served my easy carrot muffins in terra cotta pots, I made them look like a flower was growing out of the center.

Here’s how to make your easy carrot muffins for garden party theme look like they are “growing”.

Bake your carrot muffins in brown tulip cupcake liners.

When they are done baking, place each muffin inside a small terra cotta pot.

Next, you will use a brown or green straw. I used brown because I already had those, but green ones would resemble a stem. You could also use clear, and the flower stem would show through.

Cut about 3-4 inch pieces from your straw, and gently push the pieces of the straw into the center of your carrot muffin.

Right before you are ready to serve your muffins at your garden party, place a flower stem into the straw.

I used shasta daisies for my garden party theme, but any flower you like will work fine.

They looked so cute on my cake plate and at each place setting!

A garden glove is used to hold silverware to the left of the plate. A white linen napkin tied with jute and a sprig of fresh rosemary tops each plate and a carrot muffin served in small terra cotta flower pot lined with brown tulip cupcake liner and single shasta daisy in the center sits at the right of the place setting

Don’t you think it’s such a cute addition to a garden themed table??

Obviously, you could use any flower you have in your garden, or purchase an inexpensive bundle from the grocery store.

The sky is the limit with colors of flowers, so have fun with it and choose something that works with your color scheme.

You could also make cupcakes with frosting instead of muffins.

  1. Michele, you are just the cutest! Your extra touches are so delightful. thanks for sharing them with all of us.

  2. Always LOVE your tablescapes. So creative and thought-filled.I made similar muffins to these with my class for a treat as part of a gardening lesson. I used the terra cotta pots too. But we used artificial flowers . Such a great idea to use a straw and real flowers! They were so adorable and the parents loved them!

  3. In addition to already have viewed your garden tablescape, which again is truly awesome, these are so precious! I plan to make the carrot muffins today! Another suggestion, and on a garden theme is making ‘worms in dirt’ which amounts to, if you haven’t heard, a clear plastic cup with crushed Oreos or similar type of dark cookie, at bottom of cup. Fill with chocolate pudding and then place two or three gummy worms on top with additional crushed cookies to resemble soil. Way cute too!! Thanks again in sharing your creativity!!

    1. Thanks so much and I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. And yes, I used to make “worms in dirt” dessert when my daughter was little.

    1. Thank you! They were fun to make and made a nice addition to the table.
