my inspiration for a summer cocktail

I was trying to decide what cocktail I wanted to make to go along with my summer picnic theme. Since I created a lemon themed picnic tablescape, I thought a lemon based cocktail would be perfect.

And lemons just scream summer, don’t they??

I just love growing herbs, and rosemary is one of my faves. The flavors of lemon and rosemary blend beautifully together, so I decided to create a citrus rosemary cocktail for my picnic.

I also use lemon and rosemary together in my dishwasher rinse aid. You can see how to make that here.

Add 2-3 sprigs of rosemary and allow to steep until the mixture cools.

Remove rosemary sprigs from syrup mixture, pour into a glass jar and refrigerate. This will keep about a week.

Next, cut a lemon in half and squeeze juice into a small bowl or glass. And if you don’t have this lemon squeezer, you are missing out!!

Add 1 ounce of lemon juice, 1 ounce of chilled rosemary infused simple syrup and 1-2 ounces vodka to your beverage glass.

Tip – If you keep your vodka in the freezer, it will automatically help chill your cocktail beverages without needing to add ice to them

Top off with chilled club soda or Topo Chico and garnish with a lemon slice and sprig of rosemary.
