Easy Grilled Skillet Spinach and Artichoke Dip Recipe

I have been making this spinach-artichoke dip for years.

It is so easy and always a crowd pleaser. Mix up the best spinach artichoke dip for your next party and be prepared to share the recipe! 

ingredients for skillet spinach artichoke dip

5 ounces of fresh spinach, chopped
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces sour cream
1 can of artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1 1/4 cups grated parmesan cheese
3 cloves garlic, minced
salt and black pepper, to taste

Chop spinach and place in a large bowl.

In another mixing bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, chopped artichoke hearts,
1 1/2 cups of the grated mozzarella cheese, grated parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt and pepper.

Stir together then pour into the bowl with chopped spinach.



Mix everything together until well incorporated then pour the spinach mixture into a greased 12-inch cast-iron skillet. Or place in 6 individual mini 5″ cast iron skillets.

Top spinach artichoke dip mixture with remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese and place on preheated grill.

Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned on top and hot and bubbly.

If you are using mini cast iron skillets, it will only take about 15 minutes on the grill.

Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.

  • Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned and hot and bubbly.
  • Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

You can also bake this spinach artichoke dip in the oven.  
Place in cast iron skillet or a baking dish and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes or until lightly browned, and hot and bubbly.

The beauty of this recipe is that it can also be cooked in the oven in a cast iron skillet or a baking dish if you don’t want to heat up the grill.

To cook in the oven, bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown on top and hot and bubbly.

Serve with tortilla chips or pita chips for dipping.

This recipe will fill a large skillet or a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Or you can fill a medium cast iron skillet and 3-4 small 5″ cast iron skillets.

Or fill 6 small 5″ cast iron skillets if you want to make an individual serving dish for each of your guests.

If you are making this appetizer recipe in the mini skillets you won’t need to cook it quite as long. About 15 minutes on the grill should be about right. 

Most likely there won’t be any leftovers, but just in case, you can store in an airtight container or cover with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

This homemade spinach artichoke dip is such an easy recipe and is perfect for any get together, holiday season gatherings or a game day party.
