monthly dinner club

If you are new here, let me tell you about my dinner club.

Almost 3 years ago, I joined 5 other blogger friends and created a virtual dinner club.

Every month, we have a theme, and we each create a tablescape to go along with our theme.

We also create a menu to go along with our theme, and we take turns with each of the courses, and share a drink, appetizer, 2 side dishes, main entree and a dessert.

Last year, we decided to invite a guest host every month, and this month we are happy to have Kim from Shiplap and Shells, joining us.

what does charcuterie mean?

The term charcuterie is a French word: It is the pairing of two French terms, chair meaning meat and cuit meaning cooked.

A Charcuterie Board Party to Ring in the New Year

I love creating themed parties and tablescapes! It’s one of my favorite things to design.

This New Year’s table was inspired by a clock themed charcuterie board I created a couple of years ago.

I’m a lover of all thing vintage and have lots of vintage pieces including a collection of antique clocks.

Since I already have a clock collection, and I had already created a clock themed snack board, that was part of my inspiration for my charcuterie board party to ring in the New Year.

However, I wanted to add a little sparkle to the tablescape, so disco balls seemed like the perfect addition.

I mixed the clocks and disco balls with some of those antique things to give an unexpected element to this table scape.

The Easiest Mini Cheese Ball Bite Size Appetizers

Since we are hosting a charcuterie board party, we each made an appetizer to go along with our board instead of our typical 5 course menu.

But, of course, we still have a yummy cocktail recipe this month.

I have been making this cheese ball recipe for over 30 years.

I typically make it as 1 large cheese ball, but a couple of years ago I tried it as mini cheese balls to go on a holiday charcuterie board.

They are so easy to make, with only 5 ingredients, and make the perfect bite size appetizer.

ideas for hosting a charcuterie party

The best part about this party theme is the sky is the limit with food options and it is an easy way to serve a lot of people during the holiday season.

A cheese board with a variety of hard cheese and soft cheeses is always great for a charcuterie party.

Consider goat cheese, blue cheese, brie, smoked gouda, havarti, manchego and English cheddar just to name a few.

Different types of meats, like hard salami, summer sausage, proscuitto and sopressata are great options.

Fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, olives and fresh veggies are other great charcuterie board ideas.

Also, fresh herbs make a beautiful garnish to any board.  Consider adding a sprig of fresh rosemary, sage, thyme or mint to take your boards to the next level.

A dinner party with an array of different kinds of snack boards would be fun.

Have you heard of butter boards??

Or how about a board with all desserts?

Throw in a specialty cocktail, a red wine, white wines and maybe a Proscecco, and your holiday party is complete.
