Well, summer heat is in full swing in Texas already. It hasn’t been too bad up until this week, but it is 94 today and will be in the high 90’s next week.
This will be our story through September and usually into October. And we will have lots of days in the triple digits.
I’m not a fan of the heat because I love being outside working in my garden, and eating outside and between triple digit temps and mosquitos, it becomes miserable outside.
In honor of summer, I’m sharing lots of blue inspiration with you today, hence the “summer blues” title of the post. More about what inspired me to write about all things blue in “random news” down below.
If you are new here, welcome.
Saturday Morning Gather is my weekly newsletter where I share what is going on at Vintage Home and also share inspiration and things I have found during the week that I think you might enjoy.
If you’ve been around a while, as always, I am so grateful to you! I truly appreciate you showing up and continuing to support my blog.
Gather round and grab your coffee or favorite morning drink of choice and let’s take a look at what’s been happening this week.
on the blog….
Once again, I am behind on the blog.
I took this week off, since my husband was gone and took advantage of all of my time to get some projects done.
The good news is…
Lots of those projects are to share with you on the blog, and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to.
Here’s a sneak peek photo of one of my projects….
If you missed my Father’s Day golf themed tablescape a couple of weeks ago, you can see that here.
This table inspiration could be used for any golf theme get together.
And if you want a yummy and refreshing summer cocktail, check out this pineapple basil cocktail just in time for beating the heat of the summer.
in other random news…
I’ve been doing some summer decorating inside my home and on my porches this week.
My husband has been out of town most of the week, so I have been knee deep in projects and rearranging decor.
If you’ve been around here for long, you know I don’t do much color in my decor. I prefer a neutral pallet.
However, I do like to incorporate a bit of blue and white during the summer months.
I have my great grandmothers blue transferware dishes, and I have also collected a few other vintage blue transferware pieces and I like to display them in the summer.
There is just something fresh and classic about blue and white.
Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post about how I use blue and white in my summer decor.
and some other amazing things I found….
take a look at this beautiful blue and white bedroom…..
this yummy blueberry sour cream coffee cake…
see lots of blue and white decor inspiration here…
this beautiful coastal style summer living room….
this cake decorated with blueberries is SO cute…
an adorable blue and white lamp DIY.…
I ordered this blue and white rug for a client not long ago, and love how it looks in her bedroom…..
I haven’t seen these in person, but I’m liking them for a more budget friendly blue and white rug…
and as much as I love my black and white Mackenzie Childs Courtly Check Teapot, I’m thinking this Mackenzie Childs Royal Check teapot would be fun to have out for the summer months to go with my blue and white decor.
I hope you found some inspiration at our Saturday Morning Gather today!

We live on Florida’s east coast and also are not fond of the hot, humid summer months which last through Oct. Though we rarely get triple digits, YIKES! This year we’ re having mosquitoes like never before so even being in the pool isn’t happening… yet. Fingers crossed. It’s weird to be hibernating indoors between early morning and late evening hours when most bloggers are regaling all the summer activities. haha. Just know we get it! Looking forward to seeing the results of your labors during your husband’s trip. Its always fun to be knee deep in projects, drinking too much caffeine and eating popcorn for all meals when they’re away.
I don’t enjoy the high heat at all! But I don’t think you cn have too much blue and white! Enjoyed this post.
Michele, thank you so much for sharing my blueberry coffee cake. I can’t wait to see all of your projects and what you’ve been up to!
