Well, it’s been far too long since I have checked in with Saturday Morning Gather.
2026 has been a whirlwind with lots of life changes, so my blog took a back seat for quite a while.
Hopefully, I can get back to a regular schedule and checking in more often.
If you are new here, welcome.
Saturday Morning Gather is my weekly newsletter where I share what is going on at Vintage Home and also share inspiration and things I have found during the week that I think you might enjoy.
If you’ve been around a while, as always, I am so grateful to you! I truly appreciate you showing up and continuing to support my blog.
Gather round and grab your coffee or favorite morning drink of choice and let’s take a look at what’s been happening.
what’s been going on…
And just to catch you up, in case you have missed it…
We purchased a small home in the Houston area (Montgomery) last December, as a second home, near my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
In the Spring of 2026, plans changed and we sold our Dallas area (Rockwall) home and moved permanently to the Houston house.
This all happened very quickly and was a crazy time of having a sale to sell things we didn’t want to move, then packing up a home we had lived in for 10 years.
We closed on the sale of the house in April, then rented the house back for May and June to have time to do all of those things.
We have been in Montgomery permanently since July 1st of this year.
It has been quite an adjustment for lots of reasons, and a season of finding a new normal.
I am very much still on that journey but pushing forward with daily things, and enjoying time with my daughter and grands.
Since this home is much smaller, in a very crowded neighborhood, and was purchased as a second home, it is not our forever home.
I’m not sure what the timeline is for that, so for now, I am working on making it cozy and something that feels like me.
Since the house was purchased in December, and for a while was a second home, it was completely furnished.
So, when we sold the Rockwall home, there wasn’t room for much of my furniture, dishes, decor, etc.
I sold lots of things and the rest was put in storage until we find the next home.

my plans with this house…
When we purchased this house, I wanted to do something a little different with decor/colors than my primary home.
So, I added quite a bit of color, which is unusual for me.
It was fun and different and I liked having the change between the homes.
However, since this is my primary home for now, I am learning to embrace the color.
This is a cookie cutter house that was very plain and not much character, so I quickly started getting creative with ways to add character and charm on a budget.
Since this is a temporary home, I don’t want to invest a lot of money.
I have made quite a few changes, and I am looking forward to sharing the process with you.
I am planning a home tour series soon, and will take you through the before pictures, after pictures and share the process of what I did and how I did things on a budget.

for now…
For the next few weeks, I am planning to share some holiday ideas with you including some shopping guides to help with everyone on your Christmas list.
Some DIY’s, holiday tablescape ideas, recipes and holiday decorating tips will be included, as well.
I hope you will follow along, and feel free to comment back with any questions.
I love hearing from you!
style tip…
In case you missed it, I shared and easy DIY for making your own sugared fruit ornaments a couple of weeks ago.
I made these last year for my Christmas tree and love how they turned out.
See how I made them here.
this weeks finds….
This week, I am sharing some holiday decor finds that I am loving.
I am certainly not decorating for Christmas yet, but unfortunately if you don’t purchase decor items soon, they will be sold out by the time we want to decorate.
I love anything woven because I like the texture it adds to your home decor.
These are some cute woven holiday decor items I found that I am loving.
The house shaped advent calendar is definitely my favorite.
Some great greenery pieces that are reasonably priced.
I have purchased several of these for a client’s home and a couple for myself.
I also found some really cute stockings and tree skirts!
The green and white floral is my favorite, but I think all of these would be so cute mixed together.
I hope you found some inspiration at our Saturday Morning Gather today!
